چکیده

Enset-based food systems are unique to southern Ethiopia where they serve as a staple for millions of households. Enset, banana relative which the entire pseudostem and corm edible, possesses highly unusual combination crop traits including perenniality, flexible planting harvest times, tolerance very wide range environmental conditions, together earn it local name “the tree against hunger.” Previous studies have identified strategic security value mature enset stands household security, but multisector panel data set makes identifying wider associations tractable first time. We assess whether on area is associated with four indicators demographic, asset, consumption covariates. find that significantly improves estimates three indicators, thus improving our understanding role understudied indigenous crops. Consistent reliable needed improve monitoring, particularly regard stability. Variance components multilevel longitudinal models indicate exposure both idiosyncratic covariate disturbance affects stability in way consistent reports acting buffer an active adaptation strategy face shocks or change. Here we show living assets comprising culturally relevant crops such can accuracy insecurity assessments, may encourage investigation other agrifood system-specific asset-like natural stores resilience.

construction of vector fields with positive lyapunov exponents

in this thesis our aim is to construct vector field in r3 for which the corresponding one-dimensional maps have certain discontinuities. two kinds of vector fields are considered, the first the lorenz vector field, and the second originally introced here. the latter have chaotic behavior and motivate a class of one-parameter families of maps which have positive lyapunov exponents for an open in...
